America - Less Democratic?

Would America be better off if we were a little less democratic? Should we suspend elections until the government can fix the economic problems that face this country?

I think we are fine democratic wise, we just need to learn money management. I don't see how suspending elections will help the economic situation.

they cant do that because of the bill of right and constitution and also that what we live in America. and i dont think if suspend elections will help at all, about anything that got to do with money.

I agree with Cassie. Democratic wise we are fine. But the government just needs to quit spending money they don't have. Suspending elections isn't going to help, redoing a sensible budget will.

We don't need to become less democratic, we need to become MORE democratic. And I mean truly democratic, not the fight for power between both parties masquerading as democracy that we have now. Maybe we wouldn't have such an economic crisis if politicians would quit selling out their values and constituents in exchange for positions of power. Suspending elections isn't going to fix the economic problems of this country. To fix our economic problems we need to go back to the principles of wealth. You know, stuff like not spending more money than you have, always saving money away, being responsible with where you distribute your money, and learning how to both give money when it is needed, and recieve it in turn. We don't need to become less democratic, we need to become less selfish. That's what got us in trouble in the first place.

I think that we are functioning effectively as a democratic nation in our state. The reference to Adams' quote is unnecessary and very outdated. No man can see the future. Adams' quote does not have any bearing in reality, it was only a side note sort of observation. Not all predictions come true. Additionally, suspending elections will not fix the economic problem, it will only extend the amount of time that candidates can expand their image and funding.

I think Americans should consider to look for a better system for their economics. Democratically, Belgium could learn a lot of it :)

I think us being democratic is going good for now except for here and now. If you take elections away then there will some fights and possibly another war over it so i think people should be able to elect new people.

There is no reason for us to be less democratic. But spending all this money and putting us this far in debt is a big problem. We need to start having a budget for all the spending and not wasting our countries money on pointless things.

I think democratically the united states is fine, As for suspending elections I don't see how that will help I think that the government should have a budget live everyone else and have a reserve that they put money into from their budget in case their is a war or other disaster that requires money

I believe we are too democratic... We all need to learn to do things for ourselves and quit begging the government to fix problems we can fix on our own. Suspending elections wont help in any way.

I think we are fine. We should suspend elections to help with economic problems. Maybe new people in office would our economic status.

i agree with cassie, the democratic ways we have are fine, but we don't really understand the concept of money managing...

America is known for democracy. We should never suspend elections. If we are looking to fix our economy, it starts with elections. If the people in office right now can't figure out the economy, we need people who can.

I agree with Nicole. Stopping the elections is not going to help our country.

To be honest, I fully disagree with suspending elections, the reason we are in so much debt lies with the politians in office right now. If we leave them there the problem is not going to go away, they have had 3 years to fix this and they havent so why would we let them stay to dig us deeper into our economic hole.

i dont think that if they took out voting that it would really help solve anything

i think that we as a society should stay like we are because they way that we are as a society and a community is a good thing to this day we have already changes so much in this world why go threw and change more stuff that we don't necessary need.

I think that suspending elections will help with the current economic problems. The elections cost money and that is something we don't have a lot of.

Part of being a democratic country is that we get to have a say in who is running our country. Therefore I believe that suspending elections won't help our economic situation. The reason our economics are so bad is because the government refuses to stick to a budget. Every year it seems to change or there is another person telling us that in order to help our country taxes must increase. What needs to happen is a budget needs to be set, and followed accordingly, otherwise we are forever going to be in a state of debt. America could become a little less democratic by saying that they can't continually hand out money to those who think they need it, but are perfectly capable of earning it themselves. Yes, this may cause a few conflicts to arise, but from all conflicts a lesson is learned.

I think were good were were at. Because just stoping elections isn't going to help anything and I agree with Cassie we do need to stop spending to much mone!

I think America could become a little less democratic by not giving so many free handouts. A lot of people are capable of doing things for themselves without the governments help. I don't think suspending elections would help with the economic problems. The reason the economy is bad is because we can't follow a budget.

A lot of the people saying this are democrats who are worried that they will be taken out of office along with our president. One of the greatest powers that we have as a people is to be able to take people out of office that are not doing a good job. If that ability is suspended, the politicians would be way too powerful.

Democratically, I think our country is doing pretty well; but as for suspending elections, that would not be very smart because we can't fix our economic problems until the government stops spending money we don't have. If anything, new people in office would help us do just that. The government needs to take a budgeting class, come up with a new budget, and start paying off our debt.

I think we are doing alright democratically but we need to invest our money in better things. I don't think suspending elections would be a good idea because the one in office could be part of the problem

I think we should be more rather than less. We call ourselves a caring country yet we say one thing and do another. Democrats won't listen to Replubican ideas and vice versa. We're fighting each other more than the issues. Suspending the elections won't solve anything. Most of the time when a new president gets in office the market starts going up anyway just because most people believe they have new found hope.

I see what both of these people are saying, it would be nice if we could rely on politicians to stop worrying so much about being elected and start worrying about what is best for the country. That is never going to happen. And our problems won't ever be fixed until the two party system becomes less extreme and more central. Regardless of whether or not we suspend elections. There is a reason the framers put the lengths of terms in the Constitution. Therefore suspending elections is unconstitutional.

I think we should be a little less democratic to bring us out of the hole. We should band the elections for about four years then if we are not out of the hole we go another 4 years. but it is best to try anything and everything to get this country out of the dept.

The Puppy said...

I don't think suspending the elections would help our economic crisis. We got ourselves in it because we overspend and can't follow a budget so we end up in debt.

We should just take away women suffrage that would lower the cost quite a bit i do believe wud up witman

I think democratics should work with the republicans so we can figure out our money and job issue.
