Question of Man
Is man in his natural state prone to do good or evil?
The definition of natural state is its a wild primitive state untouched by civilization. I think that man can be proned to do either good or evil because he has not been influenced by anything.
i think that there is always a sway to be evil... man in a natural state (with the thought that natural state: is not really taught right or wrong, with no prior experiences with right or wrong) that desire and impulses will take over, and the person will do what they wish. they will learn from the faults... that's the way humans are, trial and error...
They do evil. Plain and simple. When left to do whatever they will do the most evil things. Many different studies including one where an artist had many different utensils and mediums and allowed the audience to do whatever they wanted and at first they didn't but when they learned there were no consequences they did terrible things to her.
Man tends to want to do good instead of evil because doing something good makes you feel better even if you were not raised knowing what is good or bad.
Man is prone to do evil. We may want to do good, but our human nature causes us to do evil. It's within us to live for ourselves and to do what we want and to look out for number 1.
In my own opinion, I believe in its natural state, man is prone to do what he finds best for survival in life. Because man has not yet had any prior experiences with decision making and consequences, whether they be good or bad, he is unable to tell right from wrong and this causes his judgement to faulter in the way being that he could choose either side. However, after his decisions, he is able to learn from his mistakes and soon after can only choose for himself which lifestyle he will take. Personally, I believe everyone has an evil streak in them and there will always be that streak but what they choose to do with it is a decision all for themselves. -Ashlee R.
Who is to say that man isn't in his natural state right now? What i mean is, have we been influenced by any "Aliens" as of today. No. So, look to society as it is today to answer the question.
I think all humans are more prone to do good than evil because everyone is born pure in their natural state and it is society that influences people to do evil.
I believe that a man left in his natural state will do what is best for himself, whether it be good or evil. He will provide food for himself, which is good. But the food may have at one time been a friendly creature, which some people may view as bad. Depends on how you look at things.

Yes, the majority of people are born innocent and they are a product of there surroundings, but there are just some people that are born to be evil. Although "evil" is a defined by perspective, there are always going to be people that everyone agrees are evil.

in the natural state, meaning unevolved and uncivilised, man is a group minded creature. the individual will strive to better themselves and thus perform evil in others eyes. only an organised group will force man to act for the good of others. this is always second to the will to better themselves.
I think it depends on the person. Some people are born with more evil tendencies than others. But if man were left in a truly natural state and wasn't influenced by society, then I think every man would be out for himself. The state would be one of survival. I don't think that's really either good or evil, it's just instinct.

It was all fine and dandy for a little while, then chaos. The boys started hunting each other in order to gain control. The primative insticts set it and therefore evil prevailed.
When man is in his most natural state, he is neither good nor evil, he would be just like an animal, is a lion evil for killing a zebra for food no, it does it only to survive, so i guess i think that the answer is neither, in his natural state man is neutral.
Alrighty, so my opinion is that we are all prone to do good instead of evil. But I also think that we are all born with weaknesses and we all screw up and fall short. I pretty much think our main goal in life is to overcome our weaknesses and help each other through life, so it's not those weaknesses and flaws that make us "evil", it's if we don't try to better ourselves.
The answer to this question could go a lot of ways, most of them could somehow tie back to religion. This is my view: we are born pure, therefore prone to do good. However, since our parents are not perfect, we learn bad habits and hence forth are prone to do as our parents did. Not that all of our intentions are evil or bad, some of them (really a lot of them) are good. Therefore in our natural state we are prone to do good, but our environment changes and shapes us so that some of our actions are evil. You could look at this from a scientific view as well, using Darwins theory which says that the strongest traits survive. And if the good person does the "right" thing the evil person will prevail and therefore reproduce enhancing those "evil skills".

It also states in the bible that we are all sinners but it also says in Genesis 6:5 "God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth."Romans 7:19 Paul talks about "the evil which I would not, that I do."
I believe there is a natural law; that all men are equipped with a conscience, and when they reach a certain age or ability to understand, they are accountable for their own actions. Therefore I believe children are born innocent.
In my opinion, a man, from the time he is born, till the time he dies, is prone to do evil. The amount of sin that is done is dependent upon his upbringing. When the man is born, his first priority is to look out for the safety of him self. The parental guidance and the place in society in which this new born takes, decides the outcome of how evident the evil will be within him. People are brought up by their parents to share and be nice, and so they try to carry that on to their children. A man's potential to show more good, or more evil, all starts at birth. If no guidance is present, evil will prevail.
man in his natural state is either prone to do good things and evil things depending on his mood or emotions like if his job is doing well or if his marriage is going good too and im pretty sure im writing something totally different but here it is but if something is not going well in his life hes more prone todo evil things that will take anger outa him.

i think god created all men as good but we are tempted to do evil

i believe man is both good and bad. There is no such thing as born good or born bad.
scientificly speaking I say human race is naturally good until something happens in their life that is bad to change it.
